Crab apples make great compost

A couple of weeks ago, the crab apples in our hedgerow were laden with fruit. Conveniently enough, the most heavily laden ones grow immediately above our compost heap, so gravity has delivered them to exactly the right spot.

We really should get hold of some crab apple jelly recipes.
