We tried Tumbling Tom Red last year which was early and produced lots of cherry sized tasty toms. So this year we're try both red and yellow varieties. Our's are just starting to flower so a few weeks behind your crop.

Pedantic chaps botanists, huh? I guess the cultivar was originally introduced/named by a German, and was therefore originally named in German!

I don't think it's too bad to keep on referring to it by its old name...Herbstfreude is German for 'autumn joy'. Why would the RHS seek to standardise on an identical-but-German name, though?

A PTO driven generator, that must have been quite a beast! We're constantly on the verge of buying a generator - our domestic water supply is electrically pumped from a bore hole, so we'd go thirsty too if we had a prolonged power cut. And we know where all the hire shops are, just in case...but thus far, the power company has always managed to restore supplies before we've taken the plunge. Long may it continue!

That is impressive! When we had a nursery, we had a standby generator which I bought second-hand and which got us out of a spot several times. It was also able to supply the house, so we could cook meals, as well, during power cuts. But it needed a tractor to drive it, so if we hadn't already got one of those, it would have been a pretty fancy investment.
